Frederico Pedro Nunes, COO of Bondstone, was invited for an interview with Jornal Económico to discuss the Municipal Property Transfer Tax (IMT) exemption. He argued that this exemption, currently for first-time homebuyers under 35, should be extended to all ages for fairness and constitutional equity, promoting equal housing opportunities.
Our Chief Operating Officer also suggested reducing VAT on construction from 23% to 6% to boost new projects and lower housing costs. He noted that this reduction would benefit the real estate market by stimulating construction and offering more affordable housing. Throughout the interview, Nunes addressed the high tax burden on the real estate sector, highlighting that the state takes a significant share of developers’ profits without bearing project risks.
Bondstone, specializing in real estate investment and development, is attentive to market changes and advocates these changes as necessary to revitalize the sector and make it more accessible to a larger portion of the population.
